Step to Jesus Church and Ministries Malawi operates through their network of 41 churches to support orphans, widows and those who are poor and vulnerable.
Cherish sponsors Verinah through Step to Jesus – we have sponsored her through school, and we are now delighted to be able to provide funds for her nursing course – helping Verinah start a career which will bring long term benefit to her community.
We have supported Laurence and Carolyn for their final two years of school, and we hope to have the opportunity to continue that support when they decide on their Further Education.
2015 – 2016 update
Meet Verinah
Verinah is a 20 year old student nurse. After gaining practical experience in Ntchewie District Hospital she is studying for her Diploma Course in Nursing at St. Luke’s College of Nursing and Midwifery.
Once qualified she will be able to earn a living as a midwife – but only in Malawi. Her ambition is to gain a Masters Degree which will allow her to be a midwife in Africa and worldwide.
She is hoping that her ambition will be fulfilled with help from The Cherish Fund.
Meet Carolyn
Carolyn is 18 years old and would like to train to be a nurse. She is an orphan and lives with her Grandmother in Namaru village.
Carolyn has asked if The Cherish Fund would be willing to sponsor her to repeat the final secondary school year should her exam results not be at a standard to give her entry into nursing.
This is something The Cherish Fund would consider as without assistance she would not be able to attend the school.
Meet Lawrence
Lawrence is 16 years old and has shown a great aptitude for study.
He hopes to win one of 100 scholarships to study Mechanical Engineering at a Government University.
Lawrence is grateful for the sponsorship he has received from The Cherish Fund.
