Most of the children at the Spring of Life Schools are unable to pay any school fees, because their families have little income, and they often have many mouths to feed.Cherish works exclusively with the local leaders responsible for the schools at Bathcomp, using their knowledge of families and local culture to select children for sponsorship. The children are selected regardless of their faith or ethnic background.
For children being sponsored from ages 6 – 12, you are encouraged to maintain contact through short letters of encouragement, say 3 a year, with the child encouraged to reply. It is a huge boost to the child if they know that someone from another country is taking an interest in them.
Cherish manages the letter facility, and will even provide a translation!

Sponsorship in Malawi
As a charity we are supporting two young people, Carolyn and Lawrence, who are currently in the final year of their secondary education.
We are in active discussions with local church leaders, and we are hoping this will result in a sponsorship scheme which will be available at around £18 per month.
A vision for the future
Education is the key to opportunity, and our vision is to equip students to play their role in the social and economic development of their area, and the whole of Sierra Leone and Malawi.
